Estimation of magnitude and time duration of temporary overvoltages using ANN in transmission lines during power system restoration
نویسندگان
چکیده
In most countries, the main step in the process of power system restoration, following a complete/partial blackout, is energization of primary restorative transmission lines. Artificial neural network (ANN) is employed for performing a nonlinear input–output mapping in this work, in order to estimate the temporary overvoltages (TOVs) due to transmission lines energization. In the proposed methodology, Levenberg–Marquardt second order method is used to train the multilayer perceptron. Proposed ANN is trained with equivalent circuit parameters of the network as input parameters, trained ANN has therefore satisfactory generalization capability. Both single and three-phase line energizations are analyzed. The simulated results for 39-bus New England test system, indicate that the proposed technique can estimate the peak values and duration of switching overvoltages with acceptable accuracy. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Estimation of New Weighted Controlled Switching Overvoltage by RBFN Model
Mitigating switching overvoltages (SOVs) and conducting well-suited insulation coordination for handling stresses are very important in UHV transmission Lines. The best strategy in the absence of arresters is controlled switching (CS). Although elaborate works on electromagnetic transients are considered in the process of designing transmission systems, such works are not prevalent in day-to-da...

In this paper, a novel method is proposed to monitor the power system voltage stability using Support Vector Machine (SVM) by implementing real-time data received from the Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS). In this study, the effects of the protection schemes on the voltage magnitude of the buses are considered while they have not been investigated in previous researches. Considering overcurr...

Today, the electricity power system is the most complicated engineering system has ever been made. The integrated power generating stations with power transmission lines has created a network, called complex power network. The reliability estimation of such complex power networks is a very challenging problem, as one cannot find any immediate solution methods in current literature. In this pape...

- Power system state estimation is a central component in energy management systems of power system. The goal of state estimation is to determine the system status and power flow of transmission lines. This paper presents an advanced state estimation algorithm based on weighted least square (WLS) criteria by introducing virtual meters. For each bus of network, except slack bus, a virtual meter...
متن کاملFault Type Estimation in Power Systems
This paper presents a novel approach for fault type estimation in power systems. The Fault type estimation is the first step to estimate instantaneous voltage, voltage sag magnitude and duration in a three-phase system at fault duration. The approach is based on time-domain state estimation where redundant measurements are available. The current based model allows a linear mapping between the m...
